J7TV: 名城公園花見2010

Hosted by imgur.comA little late I know... Here's video from Hanami in Nagoya 2010. And me clowning around, hamming it up for the camera with my friends. But I'm explaining the true reason for 花見 and why it's one of my favorite activites in Japan... Enjoy.

Oh yeah, I'm shooting in HD now with a Lumix GH1. I love this camera, but I could use a bigger SD card and battery. Anyone else shoot with this cam?

J7TV: Out and About in Nagoya Tonight...

J7TV LIVE! 12/23/09 02:59AM So this is me using UStream on my iPhone while my buddy Larry is pushing the E-class Benz (or is it a C?  I can't remember.) through the streets of Nag.  Gotta admit, rolling in a black-on-black Benz through a major city in Japan is kinda cool... Heads turn for real.  Just wish I could have gotten the looks of the ladies last night when we rolled his whip past some cabaret club...  Ever seen 2 cute girls in sexy dresses give YOU a triple take?!  At 30 mph? Neither had I until then.

Sorry for the quality here...  Moving car + buildings blocking signal sometimes= frame droppage apparently...

video: Me bein' me

We traveled to my favorite bar, Tin's Hall, in Osaka...  It was 1:20am.  We had 3 pints each.  We wanted to hear some music other than Xmas carols.  I had my iPod with me, they had an iPhone jack.   It was on from there.  Another signature J7 moment™

J7TV: Testing Ustream iPhone App in Sakae, Nagoya, Japan

Technology is amazing....

I was chatting with a viewer from Florida, USA via the Ustream chat app and you can't hear the other half of the conversation.  Sorry!
He was wanting to know how to do live streams from his iPhone...   But the fact that guy was looking at my stream from Florida and I'm here iN Nagoya Japan... Buying a drink at Lawsons and walking down the street is just nuts...

J7TV: Ustream iPhone App Bug Found... Maybe...

J7TV LIVE! 12/14/09 11:20PM JST

I was streaming live from my iPhone when I noticed that it streams a capture from the iPhone's screen, not a direct feed from the camera... WTF?! Ustream, Fix that!! Now everyone can see my email address! LOL... Doesn't matter, its Gmail, so spammers can bring it!

Obviously I staged this so I could point out what could happen with the app.  Suppose someone sent some sensitve info via text message or email and this happened?  I noticed it when i was streaming before and immediately turned notifications off, but the average user wont know to cancel their text message pop-ups without some sort of reminder; most probably are unarae it can be turned off at all!

So to Ustream-- make a version 1.1 that either grabs the stream from the camera or automatically turns off notices while filming.

Bump n Grind... At Coco Ichiban?!

Video ThumbSo I sit down to a hot bowl of curry soup and rice at the local Coco 壱番屋, a large chain of restaraunts in Japan where the specialty is curry and rice with whatever you want on it. I love curry so I end up here maybe once a week. This particular one here in Motoyama always has some old '90s urban playlist on the PA system though. Last week they played Kriss Kross AND Tevin Campbell... Today, a lil' R Kelly. Wonder if Kells is seein some royalty paper from the airtime he gets over here... And more importantly, I more Japanese people knew English, there's no way they'd play this in public.
